Should I Be Worried About Feet Turning In/Out While Walking?

"Turning both feet in or out during walking - is that okay?”

ANSWER- Generally speaking, most orthopedists are not concerned about variations in foot/leg alignment during walking until almost the age of 3! Exceptions would be if it is persistently only on one side, if there is a history of hip concerns or dysplasia (or a history of being breech in utero), or if there is any pain, limping, or balance concerns related to it.

But generally speaking, again, it is typically not a concern, especially in the first 3-4 months after walking begins. Essentially, much of it just comes down to strengthening all of those big important muscles in a new, upright position, and it often gets better as they become more proficient walkers!

As always - if you have any concerns, always speak with your child’s healthcare provider. Hope that helps!
