The Milestones & Motherhood Play Couch Review

“Do you have a review of the different play couches? I don't know which one to put on my child's Christmas list!”

ANSWER - Yes! To watch the full video you can click here. But I will share the rundown here too!

I did a comparison of the Nugget, The Kozy Couch, The Joey from Roo & You. First to be fully transparent: I bought the Nugget myself a long time ago before Instagram was even a thing (so there could be changes to them since I have done the comparison). Kozy Couch sent me one of their couches to try, but since the owners have sold their company to another manufacturer and I don't know anything about the new company. And Roo & You (The Joey) is who I have a current affiliate link with.

What's Included With Each Play Couch?

The Nugget comes with one thick cushion, one thinner cushion, and two triangles.

The Kozy Couch comes with one thick cushion and one triangle-ish wedge, and there is an option to do a double Kozy Couch with two thick cushions and two wedges.

The Joey comes with the same as the Nugget: one thick cushion, one thinner cushion, and two triangles, and also a half moon arm resting pillow.

Thick Cushion Comparison

There is not really a huge difference in thickness. Overall the Nugget and the Joey are almost identical and the Kozy Couch is just slightly smaller. The foam on the Joey is noticeably denser, which has been making a huge difference with sturdiness and being more creative with builds without it collapsing. (especialy using the thin Joey cushion too - the foam being denser has let us use it in builds , which I usually can't with the Nugget which has always been a bit of a bummer).

Thin Cushion Comparison

Size wise, the thin cushions from both the Nugget and the Joey are about the same. The Nugget might be just sightly thicker. The biggest difference is we've actually been able to use the thin cushion from the Joey in our builds also, because the foam is a little denser and it's much sturdier! We typically cannot do this with the Nugget, which has always been a bit of a bummer and felt like we could have spent our money buying two thicker ones to help with builds. The Nugget is just much more easy to fold and flimsy than the Joey, which goes back to the denser foam.

Roo & You does have a Joey option that comes with two THICK cushions and two triangles.

Fabric Comparison

Again the Nugget and the Joey fabrics are very similar. They are easy to clean, have held up great against animal nails, and animal hair doesn't seem to cling to them (maybe a touch more hair on the Joey, but it's also darker colored so maybe that's why I can see it!)

The Kozy couch fabric is different- it's almost tweed-ish? There are definitely pulls in the thread from the animals and I do feel like hair clings to it more than the others. Also not as easy to clean or as forgiving with little stains.

To Recap Them All:

The Nugget comes with one thick cushion, one thin cushion, and two triangles. The fabric is easy to clean and forgiving with animals & stains. I do not personally love their thin cushion, as I feel like it is honestly not super versatile and too thin to use for builds, so we just use it as a landing spot most of the time. I would rate the Nugget a 9/10.

The Kozy Couch comes with one thick cushion and one wedge. The fabric is a little harder to clean & less forgiving with animals and stains. If I was going to get a Kozy Couch again, I would probably get the double, because the regular one is limiting to only have one cushion for builds and not having a landing spot if the kids are climing. I would rate The Kozy Couch an 8/10.

The Joey from Roo & You comes with one thick cushion, one thin cushion, two triangles, and a half moon arm resting pillow (but they have other options and bundles as well). The fabric is easy to clean and forgiving with animals & stains. The foam in both cushions feels more stable due to it's density, which has made using the thin cushions in builds possible! Overall The Joey is a 10/10 for us!

But are play couches comfy to sleep on?

From 100% honesty and experience, I have probably spent more total nighttime sleep hours in the last few years sleeping on one of these than I have in an actual bed (next to a crib or bed or even outside their door because I just couldn't do the long walk again). My answer is ABSOLUTELY YES, for sure YES! They're actually pretty comfy in my opinion!

Hope this helps!
